frequently asked questions
What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are a popular new service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear.
Will the application be harmful to my natural lashes?
Not at all! Our eyelash extensions are applied on your own natural eyelashes one by one (without touching the skin) with a specially designed bonding agent developed exclusively for eyelash extensions. This new technique is not harmful to your natural eyelashes. The adhesive dries very soft on lashes allowing flexibility and comfort.
How do you apply the lashes?
You will lie comfortably on our spa bed with your eyes closed. The Eyelash professional will then apply an under-eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes. The extensions will then be applied to each individual eyelash with a specially designed bonding agent.
Does application of Eyelash Extensions hurt?
Eyelash Extension application should not hurt. Some may experience a bit of stinging from the adhesive however this is easily adjusted by making sure your eyes are completely closed or by switching to a sensitive formula.
How do I know which service to get?
We start each new client with a consultation to make sure you get the look you want! Our lash experts will analyze your current lash length, curve and eye shape and make recommendations. You’re never stuck with just one look. Want to try something different? We can change it up at your next fill.
How long does it take to apply Eyelash Extensions?
Applying a full set of lashes takes up to 2 hours and can be maintained with refills recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.
How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?
- Do not get lashes wet for 24 hours after application
- Avoid hot steam or sauna
- Avoid running water directly on your lashes
- Do not rub your eyes
- Do not perm your lashes
- Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler
- Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)
Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?
We advise against the use of mascara as the purpose of the eyelash extensions is to give you the look of a flawless mascara without having to wear any. However, if you require a little more pop for an evening out then NON-waterproof mascara may be used ONLY on the TIPS of your lashes. Waterproof mascara is difficult to remove and can, therefore, damage your extensions in removal. Also, it contains a chemical that may interact with the adhesive and cause it to dry out resulting in premature extensions loss. Applying even Non-water proof mascara to the base of your lashes will result in the same thing, as removal of the mascara, will cause you to rub your extensions and therefore causing the extensions to shed. Additionally, applying mascara will add more weight to your natural lashes. We apply the maximum volume that your natural lashes can hold and by weighting them down with products may result in the breaking and shedding of your natural lashes causing weak areas and damage.
Will I be able to wear makeup?
You can absolutely wear makeup. Avoid oil-based products around your eyes. Eye shadow fallout may lighten the appearance of your eyelashes so giving them a gentle brush will remove the fallout, avoid mascara as previously discussed.
Will it affect my glasses?
Eyelash extensions will only affect your eyeglasses if they are too long.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?
We ask that you keep your brand-new eyelashes dry for the first 24 hours after application and each time after maintenance. Once the 48-hour curing period is over you may get them wet without affecting the application. Eyelash extensions are waterproof and are intended to replace mascara so you can swim and shower with them on.
Why wait 24 hours after application of Eyelash Extensions?
The medical grade adhesive we use needs a 24-hour curing period in order to ensure that your extensions stay attached. Getting your eyelashes wet before they are fully cured will lead to premature extension shedding as well as causing stinging to the eyes as the adhesive is not dry and may fume.
Can I use eyelash curlers with Eyelash Extensions?
We do not recommend using eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions have a natural curl, so most people find they don't need to curl them further.
How often should I get a refill?
To maintain the fullness of your lashes we recommend refills every 2-3 weeks.
If it has been more than 3 weeks (21 days), please schedule a Full Set when booking.
Please note we recommend 2 refills per Full Set to keep the client's natural lashes healthy.
Can the Eyelash Extension be removed?
Yes, at any time for any reason! If you have had an improper eyelash extension application somewhere other than Lash District! or simply wish to remove them, we provide that service here at the studio. It is a simple procedure that doesn't take long and we have a specially formulated removal solution that will break down the glue and safely remove your extensions without damaging your natural lash.
Please do not attempt to remove the lash extensions yourself as this will cause premature pulling out of your natural lashes!
What kind of training do your staff receive?
Unlike other salons, who advertise for staff with “no experience required” and then train them on the job, we require that all our technicians have a minimum of 2 years of application experience. All our technicians are Licensed Cosmetologists and Estheticians.
